La Fête du vélo More than just a bike ride!

BIG TOMBOLA

All Fête du vélo ticket holders will be entered in a draw at 1:00 p.m. to win an electric bike donated by Station Bee’s Chaumont.

How La Fête du Vélo works

A full day where, along the way, the Châteaux de la Loire à Vélo itineraries are as much in the spotlight as the local players.

Departure from 9:00 am to 11:00 am

Participants park their vehicles in a large parking lot at the start/finish area. They obtain their tickets and receive a map of the route before setting off on a safe, signposted itinerary. Bikes can also be hired from our service providers, subject to prior booking.

Entertainment along the route

Depending on the locality, we’ll set up entertainment hubs to showcase the local heritage, with a variety of sporting and cultural activities, as well as small food outlets.

Lunch break

A large area is set aside for a lunchtime event, the location of which is not made known to participants until departure. For those who don’t want to bring their own lunch, a variety of catering services are available, including foodtrucks offering different flavors. Before getting back on the road, participants can discover numerous workshops, games and relaxation areas, all with the aim of highlighting local players.

The day ends at your own pace, around 4pm, with a return to the starting point to collect your vehicle.

You can book your bike rental with our partner 100% Bike.

NOTES

This event is not a race and there are no rankings. To take advantage of the entertainment and safety, please respect the break times. It is useless, and even dangerous, to complete the course in 2 hours instead of the whole day. If you don’t, you won’t be able to enjoy the ride to the full.

The organization

As organizer of the event, the Office de Tourisme Blois-Chambord, in partnership with the Syndicat Mixte du Pays des Châteaux et de la région Centre-Val de Loire and its famous “Échappées à vélo”, has made it a point of honor to offer a completely safe route full of surprises. The route, of around 30 to 40 km depending on the year, is organized in collaboration with the local communities, who also offer a wide range of events to promote their heritage.

Every year, some 1,000 cyclists follow a signposted route based mainly on the “Châteaux à vélo” itineraries, and gather for lunch in a unique space where local players (associations, farms, producers, etc.) come to showcase their products, foodtrucks and refreshment stands provide refreshment, and there’s plenty of entertainment for all the family. Numerous water points will be available along the route, so don’t forget to bring your water bottle.
