With its exceptional historical furnishings, the Château de Valençay looks like the home of its illustrious predecessor, the diplomat and Prince Charles-Maurice de Talleyrand-Périgord. Guided or audio-guided tours will introduce you to the genius of this illustrious man, and to his château as a symbol of the refinement of his era.
In the park, which covers more than 50 hectares, you’ll be able to stroll to your heart’s content, from the rigor of the formal garden, to a stroll under the lime trees, to a walk in the forest. In 2015, a new ephemeral garden was created on the parterre of the west wing. A contemporary interpretation of a 1705 engraving, its blooms vary with the seasons.
Since 2017, the Salle des Trésors d’apparat has been open, where you can discover the objects of the Prince de Talleyrand’s private life, brought together in a new room restored for the occasion!
For children, there’s the Napoleon maze, France’s largest game maze, the scent game in the Jardin d’Antonin and the mini-farm. At the château, game books are available to accompany your visit, as well as free audioguides specifically for younger visitors.
