Explore the natural Beauce thanks to this quite new route of Châteaux à Vélo n° 26 (The chateaux by bike) at only some kilometers in the North of Blois. Leave to a peaceful land and discover magnificent sites on the tray of the Small Beauce compound of agricultural landscapes but not only, because rivers engraved their passage in the course of century creating hillsides and valleys. Strongly soaked by agricultural life, the territory is strewed with small villages rich of a small often bucolic heritage.
Not to be missed on the route 26:
-La Chapelle Vendômoise : dolmen of the Pierre Levée, Castle of Toisy, Church Sainte Marie, Aerodrome du Breuil
-Champigny en Beauce : private castle of Freschines, Church Saint Félix, agricultural City
-Averdon : Church Saint Lubin, national Nature Reserve of Grande Pierre and Vitain, Pond of Averdon
-Marolles : House of the Nature and the Reserve, Castle of Pezay
The route N°26 leads you through villages. Take time for a bend by churches, hearts of villages and their well restored old houses. You can also have a lunch break there in a countryside bar as the ones in Champigny-en-Beauce and La Chapelle-Vendomoise. You will have the choice between three routes, the big (25km) or the two smalls (both around 15km).
In the bend of a forest, a small castle reveals its forms, then at the time of the harvests you will be surprised by the humming of the agricultural machines which always amaze so much youngs and olds. A good lesson of the processing of the wheat into flour, then into bread is imperative.
