Cheverny

Internationally renowned for its famous château, which the great Mademoiselle, daughter of Gaston d'Orléans, called the "Palais Enchanté" (Enchanted Palace)Cheverny is a small commune focused on tourism (400,000 visitors a year), wine-growing (AOC Cheverny) and environmental protection (Cheverny forest in Natura 2000 and Znief zones).The commune covers an area of 33 km² and has a population of 1,023 since the last census.In a setting of protected landscapes, visitors come in search of green tourism-related leisure activities (18-hole golf course, hiking, biking, horseback riding, hot-air ballooning, discovery of local produce...), but also for cultural activities (château visits, wine tasting, jazz festival, street arts festival, grape harvest festival, marathon, plant festival...).The only commune in the Centre Val de Loire region to be classified as a tourist resort by decree of the Minister of Tourism, Cheverny's infrastructure, unity and authenticity are reflected in its rich, well-preserved heritage:- numerous old houses in the town and hamlets - Château de Cheverny, listed as a historic monument, with its events, gardens, pack, Tintin museume Tintin museum, its famous trophy room and the orangery - gentilhommière de Troussay, classified as a historic monument, and its Sologne museum.- AOC Cheverny-Cour-Cheverny wine house- 12th-century church with its caquetoire, listed as a historic monument- salt granary,- former forge,- washhouse eco-site- forest belonging to a classified areae zone natura 2000 et Znief- international 18-hole golf course- numerous hiking and cycling trails connected to the "Châteaux à vélo" and "Loire à vélo" routes
