Basilique Notre Dame de la Trinité

Historic site and monument ,  Basilica in Blois
  • The Basilica of Notre-Dame de la Trinité is a major example of sacred art from the interwar period. It is the world center for the devotion of the Three Hail Marys, a prayer received in the Middle Ages by Saint Mechtilde.

Erected in the 1930s by a group of talented craftsmen and artists, the 14 immense stained-glass windows and the majestic mosaic in the choir radiate beautiful shimmering colors. The building is a gentle reflection of the Virgin Mary, to whom it pays homage.

Climb up to the bell tower (€2 entrance fee, payable in the store), and you'll discover and hear the 48 bells of one of Europe's finest carillons. From its 60-metre height, you'll have a 360-degree view of Blois and its beautiful forests. In fine weather, you can even catch a glimpse of the Château de Chambord.
